1-Day Workshop
Food for Thought
If you want to improve the dining experience in your nursing home, Food For Thought is for you - no matter where you are in your culture change journey.
Are you a traditional facility, or have you already begun your transformation into a person-centered organization? You’re already in neighborhoods, you say, and have made some dramatic changes in dining. Or maybe you’ve built households and have a country kitchen serving breakfast to order.
Whether you’re well along on your journey or just thinking about beginning it, this presentation will show you further opportunities to enhance the dining experience for your residents.
It’s a great time to explore and reflect on the dining innovations made by other pioneers in culture change dining. You can use these ideas to provide choice, accessibility, pleasure and individualization for your residents.
This session challenges the entire team to maximize choice and individuality for residents through innovations that focus on the residents’ needs and preferences and give the feeling of “true home” in dining.
Even if you are just beginning to dip your toes into culture change, the dining process is a great place to start. Small changes in dining can have a big impact on your residents’ autonomy and quality of life.
With this information, you will be able to evaluate the merits of open dining, buffet, restaurant or family style meals, and the dozens of examples of ways to bring simple pleasures to residents through choice and accessibility.
Led by Linda Bump, a Registered Dietitian and licensed Nursing Home Administrator with a particular passion for resident-centered dining, this workshop has approval for 6 hours of continuing education credit.
